Aku sangat jakun (aka i need to get out more)

I very rarely get invited to or attend glitzy events at posh venues with VIPs etc but yesterday Sab, my office roomie, took me to the Islamic Fashion show something or rather, its full name is on the poster below.

Everyone of course dressed up in their finest glittery outfits, nama pun fashion show kan, but me didn't because don't own anything that hasn't been spit, vomited (or worse)on and rather spend money on yummy food than on nice things for self. ANYWAY, I came as my usual selebet self with no make up on save my Nivea cherry lip balm, only just remembering as I was about to exit the car to change from selipar to the office shoes I only wear for meetings with clients. So there I was among all the beautifully dressed up people when suddenly I spotted standing somewhere in the middle of all the shiny sequins, jewels and bright colours, a picture of elegance in a sweet and simple pastel lilac and light grey outfit: Datuk Sarimah Ahmad herself. And memang sah i jadi jakun. I had already seen as we were seated at our table a few celebrities nearby but they were mostly young actresses that i kenal muka tapi tak ingat or tak tahu nama. But when i saw Sarimah, pelakon veteran of movies such as Ibu Mertuaku, Madu Tiga and Ali Baba Bujang Lapuk to name a few, my stalker sense lit right up! Dengan tak malunya, after the event, I went up to her and the usual starstruck drivel sprouted from my mouth. She was ever so gracious and kind and even relented to my makcik paparaziness. Ladies and gentleman, my photo with the one and only celebrity that mattered to me there:

I only hope that I can look that good when I am 70, God willing.
